One November night a knock came to the door. To Aoife’s surprise and delight, two of Santa’s helpers and their escort, “police man Johnny” came in to our house, one carrying a hand made princess throne, one carrying a table to match and a giant teddy bear as big as myself! Santa’s helpers read an announcement to Aoife, telling her that she would be picked up by limo escorted by Gardai, brought to Smyth’s toy store where she had 5 minutes to fill a trolley with her favourite toys. Then we as a family would be treated to a family portrait taken in a photographer studio. And then to end the day Aoife, her brother Aaron, Dad and I would meet our extended family in The Clontarf Castle for a family Christmas dinner!
The day was amazing, Aoife felt like and was treated like a princess by everyone! The icing on the cake was that Aoife, Aaron, Dad and I were treated to a two night stay in the bridal suite, very suitably named The Princess Suite in the Clontarf Castle.
Aoife unfortunately lost her battle with her brain tumour the following June. But those few days that her dream came true made so much of a difference to her very short lived life. Not only did it mean so much to Aoife, but to all of her family that shared the lovely experience. The memories are very special to us all and would not have been possible without The Bubblegum Club!To all at the Bubble gum Club, Thank you for the precious memories!
